Official Knox County criminal records must come from the agency or court that maintains them. This private resource cannot retrieve, certify, change, or file a record. The contacts below route court cases to the combined clerk, sheriff reports to the Sheriff's office, current custody questions to the jail, and statewide criminal-history requests to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

This Is Not a Government Office. This privately run reference resource cannot obtain official records, perform government checks, alter a record, or accept an expunction filing. Contact the correct public custodian directly.

Need an Official Record?

Knox County has no one-stop criminal-record portal. Match the request to the office that created or keeps the file:

  • Filed court cases: use the Knox County criminal court case channels or ask the County & District Clerk for the docket, charging instrument, judgment, sentence, or certified copy
  • Sheriff reports: contact the Knox County Sheriff for incidents and arrests handled by that office
  • Current booking or custody: call Knox County Jail at 104 S. Stewart St., Benjamin, TX 79505, (940) 459-2041; lobby and visitation hours are not published
  • City police reports: contact Munday Police or Knox City Police when that agency created the report
  • Statewide public criminal history: use the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division for reported conviction and deferred-adjudication information
  • Expunction or nondisclosure: file through the proper court and clerk under the applicable Texas statute

The county does not publish a separate records division, request counter hours, request form, or standard turnaround. Call before an in-person visit and ask how to submit a narrow request.

Knox County & District Clerk: first floor of the Knox County Courthouse, 100 W. Cedar St., PO Box 196, Benjamin, TX 79505; (940) 459-2441; fax (940) 459-2005. The courthouse posts hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Filed felony and misdemeanor cases belong with the clerk rather than the Sheriff.
