Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of Knox County Criminal History. Reading its material, visiting a page, or submitting a query means you accept the terms stated here. If you disagree with them, do not continue using the website.

NO FCRA USE. Knox County Criminal History is privately operated and has no connection to a local, Texas, or federal government agency. Neither this website nor its advertising partners offers a service intended for credit decisions, employment screening, insurance underwriting, tenant screening, or another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). This is a reference resource for finding criminal-record channels in Knox County, Texas. It is neither a consumer reporting agency nor a private investigation firm.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, independently run and unaffiliated with government. It does not store official files, submit court papers, obtain records for a user, or perform an official background check.

The material directs readers to the Knox County Sheriff, courts serving Knox County, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry, and outside tools that may assist personal research. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, governs qualifying requests to Texas government bodies. It does not make this private resource an official records custodian.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the website, you agree not to:

  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated tools against the pages
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass anyone with information found here
  • Interfere with site operation or prevent others from gaining access
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or restricted area
  • Use the content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Violate any applicable federal, Texas, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use material from this website or a linked tool to intimidate, stalk, threaten, harass, or discriminate against another person. Such conduct may also violate criminal law. This restriction is especially important for Texas Public Sex Offender Registry information. Registry data supports lawful public-safety awareness and does not authorize confrontation, vigilantism, employment blacklisting, or housing discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Knox County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and creates no credit report, consumer report, or background-screening product. Its advertising partners are not presented as sources for evaluating a job applicant, rental application, insurance rate, or creditworthiness. You agree that information from the website or any linked tool will not be used to:

  • Assess creditworthiness or determine an insurance premium
  • Evaluate a rental or other housing application
  • Make a hiring, retention, or termination decision
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other activity governed by the FCRA

When a legally permitted purpose requires a background check, use the proper official process through the Texas Department of Public Safety or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is general information, not legal advice. It can describe criminal-record systems used in Knox County, but it cannot determine how a warrant, charge, conviction, expunction, or other rule applies to a particular matter. Seek advice from a Texas-licensed attorney for that analysis.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are provided "as is." No guarantee is made that:

  • An outside search result will be accurate or complete
  • Every fact will remain complete, current, and correct
  • The website will always operate without interruption
  • The pages will contain no error, defect, or security weakness

Criminal records can change as charges are filed, dismissed, restricted, corrected, or expunged. Delays and gaps can occur. Content here is not an official statement by a sheriff, court, the Texas Department of Public Safety, or any other government body. Texas Government Code sections 411.083 and 411.135 also limit and authorize particular forms of state criminal-history dissemination.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to a sheriff, court portal, Texas agency, legal-aid organization, or outside search provider. Following one moves you to a service outside our control. We are not responsible for that service's content, fees, availability, privacy practices, or data handling. Review its terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, logos, graphics, and code belong to Knox County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the broadest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for harm arising from use of the website, including a decision based on its content or information supplied by a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against a claim, demand, or action resulting from your use of the website or violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Texas law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of the website must be brought in a court located in Texas.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revised version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be suspended, limited, or ended at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is found invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions stay effective. The affected language will be modified only to the extent needed for enforcement.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
