Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its response. Knox County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to review it and respond. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers may automatically receive basic technical information about that visit:
- The date and time of each page request
- Your device's assigned IP address
- The referring website, when one is available
- The browser name and version
- The operating system and general device type
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show, in aggregate, how people navigate the website, which pages receive traffic, and where visits end. Analytics providers assist with that measurement. You can block cookies through browser controls, although doing so may change how some website functions behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Knox County Criminal History does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its reference material identifies official channels such as the Knox County Sheriff, the courts serving Knox County, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Texas Government Code sections 411.083 and 411.135 govern confidentiality and authorized public dissemination of state criminal-history information. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through one of those tools is governed by that provider's privacy policy, retention terms, and sharing practices rather than this policy. Those choices are outside our control. Review the provider's policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Knox County offices, Texas agencies, court systems, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once you follow an outbound link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read those terms before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use activity across websites to select ads. That tracking is performed through their systems and policies, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may still be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and site performance
- Outside search partners processing a query you submit
- Advertising networks serving material on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order

Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, however, and no promise can be made that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If information from a minor is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary based on the law that applies to you. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, concerns records held by Texas government bodies, including public-record requests to Knox County offices. It does not convert this private website into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request deletion of information associated with you

- Seek correction of inaccurate information
